DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \n\nImmerse yourself in the enchanting world of ethnic\, religious and cultural events and gain invaluable insights to elevate your own practice. \n\nIn this inspiring talk\, travel\, portrait and documentary photographer\, Tony Smith\, will take you on a journey to several of India’s holiest sites and three of the most important Hindu Festivals. \nYou’ll discover the significance of ‘Sacred Water’ to the Hindu psyche and how it plays a crucial part in their lives\, from birth to death and reincarnation – an invaluable insight if you plan to visit India in the future. \n\nTony works at a fast pace with little time to re-set his camera or review his images – so he’ll share his camera settings and lens choices and explain how he integrates his smartphone to cope with this. \n\nYou’ll learn how to plan your holiday or photo trip around a religious event\, without relying on travel agencies in your home country\, who may lack the inside knowledge. \n\nFinally\, he will touch on the best software\, hardware and cloud options to edit and back up your images when travelling. \n\nTony is an Associate member of the RPS Travel Group and has published several articles in their ‘Travel Log’. DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \n\nJoe takes us on an autobiographical journey of his artistic evolution – from fine art student to renowned photographer\, thinker and writer. \n\nIn this thought-provoking talk\, Joe describes how he strives to draw connections with his subject matter. This can be an intensely personal process\, but for him\, there is no escaping the search for meaning and purpose in his art. \n\nAs a landscape photographer\, Joe seeks to translate his sense of affinity with the natural world through the careful study of texture\, colour\, space and light. \n\nHe also tries to find links with how landscape photography illustrates the environmental issues of our time\, and how ultimately\, we connect with and serve wider society. \n\nA professional photographer since 1980\, Joe is based in North Yorkshire in the UK and has devoted the last 30 years to landscape photography. \n\nHe is an acclaimed thinker on the role of photography\, especially in environmentalism\, and has written countless articles\, many appearing in ‘On landscape’ which he helped co-found. \n\nAn honorary Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society\, he helped form (and was first Chair) of the Landscape Distinctions panel. \n\nRecent books include Scotland’s Mountains; Scotland’s Coast; The Northumberland Coast; This Land; Capability Brown; Humphry Repton; Woodland Sanctuary (with Simon Baxter); Still Time to Wonder (on Fountains Abbey).

DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nLearn to create remarkable images using the camera in your pocket – with award-winning Smartphone Photographer and Educator\, Brendan Ó Sé. \nBrendan will explore how the limitations of the smartphone put him on a path of heightened visual awareness – and accelerated his photographic development. \nHe’ll explain how not relying on his DSLR allowed him to see and create in unusual ways\, resulting in more unique imagery and striking street photography. \nHe will demonstrate\, through his images\, how photography is not about cameras\, but all about the craft of composition\, light and story. \nBy the end of this talk\, you’ll discover how having your smartphone with you at all times\, can shift you from passive observer to an active creative photographer. \nBrendan is from Cork\, Ireland and was part of the hugey successful #shotoniPhone global campaign in 2015. He exhibits his work all around the world and has won many international awards including ‘iPhone Photographer of the Year’ in 2017. \nHe runs photography workshops\, most regularly with the Photo Museum of Ireland and The Glucksman Gallery. He’s also co-founder of the Mobiography Awards.
