DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nTim will introduce us to the historical significance of competitions in the art world\, focusing on contemporary photography competitions. \nFrom the Salons of France to the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition\, photographers and painters have always competed to find a place for their work. \nHe will discuss many aspects of modern photography competitions\, specifically the Natural Landscape Photographer of the Year competition and book. \nYou will understand the potential advantages and driving forces behind participating in photography competitions. \nTim is a landscape photographer and editor of the landscape photography magazine\, ‘On Landscape’. \nHe uses a mix of film and digital cameras but mostly film in small\, medium\, large sized format. \nPhotography was a childhood interest\, but he left it for computing. He later returned\, captivated by large-format cameras. Despite their cumbersome nature\, he found them empowering\, allowing for greater control and a more deliberate approach to image-making. \nHe believes photography is a tool for self-discovery and a means of deeper connection with the world. By slowing down and paying attention to the details\, you can capture the essence of a moment and relive it through the lens.

DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, valid for 14 days) \nLandscape photography\, to an obsession with book publishing! – Tim offers creative and technical advice for successful landscapes & books. \nLearn from Tim’s long and successful career in landscape photography\, and how early encounters with photography books shaped his future. \nWhen he started the excellent annual Natural Landscape Photography Awards\, he had the opportunity to design and produce a book. \nAfter colour and printing issues\, Tim invested time refining the print preparation process\, to establish what truly makes a difference in achieving exceptional print quality. \nThrough that work with photography book production\, Tim has developed a deep understanding of what makes successful publications. \nTim will be open to questions on any related topic throughout the session. \nTim Parkin is founder of the Natural Landscape Photography Awards\, and editor of On Landscape magazine\, now in its 328th issue. \nThe Awards showcase photographers who work within traditional bounds while expressing themselves creatively through truthful depiction of the natural world. \nHe has judged over twenty competitions\, including UK’s Landscape Photographer of the Year and International Landscape Photographer of the Year. \nTim is also a consultant for Wildlife Photographer of the Year in rule development and image authenticity checking.
