Darkly atmospheric. And black and white is so capable when it comes to adding that little bit of mood\, that atmosphere.’ \nIt’s no coincidence that his favourite movie genre is Noir; ‘Brooding scenes from the mind of Raymond Chandler\, brought to life on the big screen.’  \nHe’s heard others say that often\, if a picture doesn’t work\, they’ll convert it to black and white. He doesn’t agree with this thinking. He’ll share how with some compositions; his mind just automatically converts them to black and white. \nMark’s work often features in national magazines\, he’s also written several articles about landscape photography and his unique approach to it. \nHe’s a previous winner of Take-a-View UK Landscape Photographer of the Year and more recently\, 11 of his images received Judges Commendations\, two Highly Commended and another runner up in the Classic View.

SUMMARY:Mats Andersson - 'Creative & Lost in Iceland'
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nThe Swedish legend has turned his love of wildlife and landscapes into a hugely successful career\, with artistic flair and a love of mono. \nIn the first half of this session\, you’ll gain insights into Mats highly creative images\, including his sources of inspiration and ICM. \n\nIn the second half\, he’ll share his personal photos and stories from his seven trips around the ‘fairy island’ of Iceland. You’ll see he’s captured some of the most famous places – but still manages to create incredibly beautiful\, unique images. \n\nMats work is widely respected and admired. A recent quote from Black + White Photography magazine describes it best:\n‘At first glance\, it’s hard to distinguish whether a Mats Andersson print is a painting or photograph. He blends the abstract with the surreal\, resulting in landscape imagery that can simultaneously evoke feelings of unease\, tranquillity\, forbidding and calm. His style is instantly recognisable\, a dark\, gritty\, analogue look with deep blacks\, a rich grain structure and often plenty of motion\, which contributes to his painterly style.’   \n\n\nMats studied photography at the Industrial Art School in Gothenburg\, followed by a job as Art Director and Photographer in the advertising industry.\n\nSince 1989 he has worked as an AD and Photographer at Concret Advertising in Sweden. Mats is a Leica ambassador in Scandinavia and has published 13 books.

DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the 2 live Sessions\, you will receive links to the recordings\, which will be valid for 28 days from the last Session) \nBill will share his infectious enthusiasm for creative abstract photography\, with live demos of both ICM and in-camera Multiple Exposures. \nYou should come away feeling inspired and invigorated – and equipped with new skills to take your creative photography to the next level! \nWith plenty of practical demonstrations\, Bill will explain the fundamentals of abstract photography. In particular\, he’ll delve into the technical side of Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) and in-camera Multiple Exposures.  \nThese sessions will focus less on his usual territory of the ‘why’ and rather more on the ‘what’ and the ‘how’. So it promises to be an informative workshop with practical tips you can apply to your own work. \nYou’ll learn a range of ICM tools\, including shutter speed\, focus\, ND filters\, use of zoom lenses\, specific movements and gestures\, stationary subjects vs moving subjects. \nYou’ll also discover the different blend modes of in-camera Multiple Exposures (Average\, Additive\, Bright\, Dark) as well as how to mix ICM and Multiple Exposures together. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to learn from Bill’s expert knowledge and experience\, gained from over 10 years of immersing himself into this genre! \nBill was a judge for the UK ‘Landscape Photographer of the Year 2022’. \nHis work is often recognised in competitions worldwide\, featured in various media outlets and he’s a regular contributor to ‘ICM Photography Magazine.’ \nCourse dates: Mondays Jan 29th and Feb 5th 2024. \nRecordings available until 4th March 2024.

SUMMARY:Photoshop Mastery with Jonathan Vaines (10 Workshops)
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the 10 live Workshops\, you will receive links to the recordings\, which will be valid forever) \nIn this comprehensive course\, you’ll learn how to edit your images with confidence and unleash the full power of Adobe Photoshop. \nThis is the third time we’re running this popular course. The live sessions are held every Friday from January 26th until April 5th (excluding 9th February) from 7:00-9:30pm (UK time). \nFirst\, Jonathan will take you through Adobe’s RAW Converter (ACR)\, which is the same as Lightroom’s Develop Module\, then into Ps to understand its interface\, what the tools do\, and how to set them up to  give you a proven workflow. \nThe course develops showing techniques using layers – and then onto more complex work such as luminosity masking\, composites\, and displacements. \nThe sessions are relaxed and flexible to ensure they move with the pace of the group. Attendees are encouraged to participate fully to ensure they get the most out of the course. \nAs with all of our Mastery Workshops\, each class will be recorded and downloadable by participants for their permanent ongoing personal use to revise\, review and revisit. \nJonathan regularly teaches Photoshop online\, both in groups and one to one sessions. He also runs workshops for the Royal Photographic Society\, is a circuit Judge and Paper Spectrum sponsored Lecturer. \nIf you have any questions or would like more information\, please email roy@myphotoclub.co.uk. \nWe’re positive you’ll enjoy the course – here’s what our previous students have said: \nSue – (UK) – ‘The Photoshop Mastery course is very comprehensive\,  anyone who’d like to know more about Ps\, or top up their knowledge\, couldn’t do better than learn from Jonathan”. \nNeva – (USA) – “Jonathan is an excellent teacher\, explaining concepts\,  tools and processes in detail and in a comprehensible manner”. \nVanessa – (Canada)  – “The MyPhotoClub Ps workshop is excellent! It’s informative and you can’t help but learn by the way Jonathan breaks down and simplifies the tools in this program”.

Simplicity\, layering and wonder are the essences of her work. \nBy seeing her inspiring work\, you will understand how seemingly insignificant moments in her creative life\, have shaped her way of working. \nYou will discover how this developed during her career and how her two books played an important role. In particular\, ‘Time Vanishes From The Landscape’ will be discussed\, in relation to ‘look as slowly as you can’. \nFinally\, you will learn how to approach the idea of ‘look as slowly as you can’ by yourself\, based on her experience during the past 20+ years of her career. \nAnnmarie trained at the Dutch Photography School and on advanced courses in the Netherlands and UK. She exhibits in the Netherlands and internationally and is represented by Dutch Luxury Design. She has published two books\, ‘The Quest’ (2018) and ‘Time Vanishes from the Landscape’ (2023).
