SUMMARY:Mark Littlejohn – ‘The World Isn’t Black And White – It’s Grey’
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will automatically receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \n\nJoin Mark as he delves into the world of black and white imagery\, sharing insights on capturing mood and atmosphere in everyday landscapes. \n\nMark has always been a huge fan of black and white; ‘The work of Don McCullin springs to mind. Darkly atmospheric. And black and white is so capable when it comes to adding that little bit of mood\, that atmosphere.’ \nIt’s no coincidence that his favourite movie genre is Noir; ‘Brooding scenes from the mind of Raymond Chandler\, brought to life on the big screen.’  \nHe’s heard others say that often\, if a picture doesn’t work\, they’ll convert it to black and white. He doesn’t agree with this thinking. He’ll share how with some compositions; his mind just automatically converts them to black and white. \nMark’s work often features in national magazines\, he’s also written several articles about landscape photography and his unique approach to it. \nHe’s a previous winner of Take-a-View UK Landscape Photographer of the Year and more recently\, 11 of his images received Judges Commendations\, two Highly Commended and another runner up in the Classic View.

SUMMARY:Mark Littlejohn - ‘From Reactive To Creative’
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nJoin award-winning photographer\, Mark Littlejohn\, on his journey from ‘reactive’ to ‘creative’ and see how an old dog can learn new tricks! \n\nWhen Mark first started landscape photography\, he lived near the Eden Valley and the Lake District – both well-known areas of outstanding natural beauty. \n\nHe admits to just wandering around\, pointing his camera in the general direction of all that beauty and pressing the shutter release every now and then. \n\nPeople loved his images and would call him creative. But he always denied this\, saying “I’m not a creative. I’m a reactive”. \n\nHe says this was because he reacted to the beauty around him. He’d never had to look for it. It was just there. \n\nBut when he moved to another outstanding area of beauty\, in the highlands of Scotland\, he was not taking the same pictures. \n\nHe was focussing on small scenes of reeds and kelp. \n\nHad he become creative? Had it been possible to teach an old dog new tricks? \n\nMark is an award-winning photographer based in Wester Ross\, Scotland. His work has been featured in a variety of national magazines and he has also written several articles in relation to landscape photography and his distinctive approach to the genre.

DESCRIPTION:Join Travel Photographers and Educators\, John and Lisa Merrill\, for two inspiring evenings exploring impressionist and abstract photography. \nWhen can a blurry photo be compelling? When the blur is created intentionally by moving your camera\, lens or both during a long exposure. \nIntentional Camera Movement (ICM) embraces the power of play\, flexes creative muscles\, and can lead to unique and unusual images. \nIn these fascinating sessions\, you’ll find out how to add creative blur when capturing still subjects by shaking\, twisting and/or zooming during long exposures. You’ll also learn to freeze a moving subject against a blurred background by panning. \nUsing examples from assignments and adventures around the world\, the Merrills will also share tips for creating mysterious abstract images which evoke wonder and curiosity. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to discover new ways of seeing and photographing\, expand your visual toolbox\, and nourish your creativity! \nThese 2 Tuition Sessions will be held on Monday 16th and 23rd September from 19:00 to 21:30 (UK time). Recordings will be available to watch for 28 days after the live event. \nAbout Merrill Images \nJohn and Lisa Merrill create images to evoke wonder\, inspire action and strengthen communities.
