SUMMARY:Tony Bramley - ‘Principles & Elements of Art in Photography ‘
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nTony explains how interesting the content of your images can be\, and that there were never any ‘rules’ in composition. \nConsiderations on the creation of the perfect composition – Tony shows how so much more should go into producing a photograph when looking at the elements of composition. \nExploring further behind this thought process by understanding the artistic design elements that make up an image. \nThese principles hold fast for the art world and sit comfortably within both traditional and contemporary photography. \nWhether it is pictorial\, creative or abstract photography that you shoot\, you should go away with a new view on the content of your photographs. \n\nTony has been working as a professional photographer for over twenty-five years\, winning several awards and accreditations. \nIn 2016\, he started The Light Academy providing photography training\, 1-2-1\, groups  and workshops. \nIn December 2015 he was made a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society for his unique conceptual work on Suprematism within photography. This was followed with the RPS Fellowship of the Year Award in 2016\, for the ‘most outstanding panel of work achieving a Fellowship’.

SUMMARY:Joe Cornish - ‘Coast And Wildwood\, Moor And Mountain’
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nAfter a life-changing injury\, renowned Landscape Photographer and Thinker\, shares his passion for wild places and the art of Photography. \nFollowing a serious neck injury in October after falling on a mountain\, Joe faced his mortality more directly than ever before. And he asked himself\, ‘What has this life been for’?  \n‘Photographing landscape is not a job for me\, it’s a way of thinking\, being\, living. \nMy greatest commitment is to wild places and wilderness wherever I can find them. \nWhy? Firstly\, because I love these places more than any others. Secondly\, because philosophically\, I believe preserving and regenerating wildness is critical to the health of life\, and humanity’s future on our wonder planet.’ \nIn the live zoom talk\, you’ll hear Joe exploring this philosophy further. \nYou’ll also learn the composition and lighting approaches he uses to bring the landscape to life. And discover the connections with the other Arts that influence his thinking and ideas. \nHe will also discuss the contradiction of the photographer who needs to travel\, with the environmentalist who hopes to minimise their carbon footprint. \nA professional photographer since 1980\, Joe Cornish is based in North Yorkshire and has devoted the last 30 years to landscape photography. \nHe is an acclaimed thinker on the role of photography\, especially in environmentalism\, and has written countless articles for ‘On Landscape’ which he helped co-found. \nAn honorary Fellow of the RPS\, he helped form (and was first Chair) of the Landscape Distinctions panel. \nRecent books include Scotland’s Mountains; Scotland’s Coast; The Northumberland Coast; This Land; Capability Brown; Humphry Repton; Woodland Sanctuary (with Simon Baxter); Still Time to Wonder (on Fountains Abbey).

SUMMARY:Photo Tour - India with Paul Sansome (SOLD OUT)
DESCRIPTION:Paul aims to provide people with memorable experiences\, good photo opportunities and a great holiday. \nPaul says\, “the emphasis of the trip is focused on photography and I believe that the best photo opportunities are usually found away from the main tourist sites. \nFor the full itinerary and prices please email: –  roy@myphotoclub.co.uk \nThis trip takes us through Karnataka from the city of Mysore and through the breath-taking beauty of the tea plantations of the Western Ghats\, via a Tiger Safari. \nThen on to the fascinating old colonial town of Fort Cochin (Kochi) on the Arabian Sea. \nNo visit to Kerala would be complete without spending time in the Backwaters\, an extensive network of canals and lakes along the shores of which we will see the people who have adapted to this water-based lifestyle.” \nAs well as being attractive to the photographer\, the itinerary will also appeal to people wishing to experience a more in-depth view of the Indian way of life. \nThe Tours attract people with all levels of photography experience. \n  \nPaul is one of the UK’s most successful fine art photographers\, selling photography to hang on people’s walls since becoming a professional in 2003. \nPaul has been Highly Commended in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year\, has several times featured in \nLandscape Photographer of the Year and in 2017 and 2019 won major portfolio awards in the Travel Photographer of the Year which featured photographs from India. \nFor the past ten years Paul has been leading 2 or 3 photography holidays each year to countries that include Italy\, Morocco\, Iceland\, Vietnam\, Myanmar and India. \nOn the trips there is an emphasis on both having a great holiday and also on taking great photographs and improving the client’s photography skills. \nWe visit locations specifically because they offer good photo opportunities and spend much longer at any given location than a normal tour because photography can often need that little bit of patience to get the perfect shot. \nIn India\, there is a major emphasis on people photography and the depiction of a foreign culture. \nPaul says “Whilst my background was in landscape and wildlife photography\, I have the strongest passion for capturing the character and lifestyle of the Indian people and I have never travelled anywhere where the people have been more welcoming to photographers”. \nThere is group education at the beginning of the tour so that clients have an awareness of some creative and compositional ideas as well as a strong technical grounding in how to get the best results. \nPaul is always available on location and the guidance given when alongside someone taking the photographs is probably the most instructive and beneficial.

SUMMARY:Photo Tour - Vietnam with Paul Sansome (2 LEFT)
DESCRIPTION:Paul is an excellent guide and tutor; most importantly he is one of the best we know at getting you to the right place at the right time! \nPlease email roy@myphotoclub.co.uk for the full itinerary. \nPaul says: – \n“We will start in the capital and we are based in the heart of the old quarter\, a maze of traditional trading streets\, markets and historical buildings. \nFrom Hanoi we head out to the rural locations of Ninh Binh\, Pu Luong and Moc Chou\, where we are likely to be able to see and photograph some of the ethnic minority people. \nNext\, via a short internal flight\, we visit the contrasting Central Region of Vietnam where we stay in both the ancient capital of Hue and the very photogenic and relaxing Hoi An” \nAt either the beginning or end of this tour\, you may choose to extend your trip to enjoy a cruise on the famous Ha Long Bay\, which we can arrange for you. \nPaul is one of the UK’s most successful fine art photographers\, selling photography to hang on people’s walls since becoming a professional in 2003. \nPaul has been Highly Commended in the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year\, has many times featured in Landscape Photographer of the Year and in 2017 won the first of several major awards in the Travel Photographer of the Year competition. \nFor the past eighteen years Paul has been leading three or four photography holidays each year to countries that include Italy\, Morocco\, Iceland\, Myanmar and India. \nWe visit locations specifically because they offer good photo opportunities and spend much longer at any given location than a normal tour because photography can often need that little bit of patience to get the perfect shot. \nIn Vietnam\, there is a good balance between landscape\, people photography and the depiction of a foreign culture. \nPaul says\, “Whilst my background has been in landscape and wildlife photography I have the strongest passion for capturing the character and lifestyle of the Vietnamese people”. \nThere is group education at the beginning of the tour so that clients have an awareness of some creative and compositional ideas as well as a strong technical grounding in how to get the best results. \nPaul is always available on location and the guidance given when alongside someone taking the photographs is probably the most instructive and beneficial.
