SUMMARY:Cherry Larcombe – ‘Abstracts’
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nLearn to experiment creatively as Cherry shares lots of hints and tips on how to produce some unique and inventive abstract photographic art. \nCherry encourages you to experiment with your photography in a more creative way. \nRather than see the world as individual things to take pictures of\, can we recognise just the lines\, shapes\, colours\, textures\, shadows\, and highlights as potential images? \n“I have a passion for digital photography and have been making images with my camera now for many years and have never lost my enthusiasm. I love being able to be in control of the whole process\, composing the shot\, taking the shot\, post processing the shot and finally printing it. \nIt’s my attempt at being creative and artistic which gives me much enjoyment and fulfilment.” \nCherry supports many photographic groups online such as Flickr and on Facebook\, and is a member of Eastbourne Photographic Society. \nHer work has been exhibited at many national and international exhibitions during the process of working towards photographic distinctions. Cherry runs several Creative Flower Workshops for Permajet and later in 2023 for the Thames Valley RPS. \nShe’s heavily involved in speaking\, and judging various competitions\, for clubs all over the UK and beyond\, as well as in person where at all possible\, so that she can display her superb creative and artistic print work to illustrate the Talks.

SUMMARY:Alex Kilbee – ‘The Art Of The Re-start: How I Found Myself When Losing My Way In Photography’
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nDiscover how Alex’s journey took him from student photographer to hosting YouTube channel ‘The Photographic Eye’ with 180\,000 subscribers. \nAlex moved from the UK to South Africa when he was nine\, he was later invited to join the Army for two years. \nInstead\, he fell into the welcoming arms of Pretoria Technikon Photoschool where he discovered that he was reasonably good at photography.\nSince then has worn many hats – from wannabe Rock ‘n Roll photographer to trying to get new-born babies to sleep for their portraits. \nA frustrated architect at heart\, Alex always preferred photographing buildings to people\, but until Covid closed his studio he was creating award-winning portraits. \n\nThe closure of one door was the opening of another. In 2020 Alex started a YouTube channel called The Photographic Eye where he just chatted about the photography that he got a kick out of. A huge number of people enjoyed what he had to say\, and now there are over 180\,000 subscribers. \n“This talk is based on my journey as a photographer over the last 30 years. I flitted from one idea to the next in the hope that at least one of the fads I was chasing would lead me to instant recognition.\nAt various stages\, I have fallen in and out of love with photography both as an interest and a career. \nI offer this talk as a cautionary tale about the pitfalls of losing the WHY at the heart of photography. – that weird urge we get to see things photographed (as Garry Winogrand put it). \nI hope that this inspires people to help discover their own path through photography which leads them to create images that not only are they proud of\, but that came from their soul.”

SUMMARY:Mark Littlejohn - 'The Romance Of Landscape Photography'
DESCRIPTION:(As well as access to the live event\, you will receive a link to the recording\, which will be valid for 14 days) \nLearn why Mark ignores books & YouTube\, he follows his heart & photographs the things that move him\, that make him smile or shout and swear! \n“I was a detective for 26 years and took up photography quite late in life. In some respects\, I wish I’d taken it up sooner\, but in others I’m happy I came to it later. \nIt allowed me to do things the way I wanted to. I live with my wife and dog 150 yards from a beach in a remote corner of the Highlands. I run the occasional workshop and the majority of my time is spent doing things that I enjoy. \nMy talk is really about passion. If we feel no emotion for our subject\, how can we expect anyone viewing our images to feel any emotion. It’s about capturing moments as opposed to creating them.” \nMark is a previous winner of the Take-a-View UK Landscape Photographer of the Year\, and during the last few years eleven of his images have received Judges Commendations in the awards\, along with two being highly commended and another image being runner up in the Classic View in 2015. \nHis work has been featured in a variety of national magazines and he has also written several articles in relation to landscape photography and his particular approach to it. \nHe prefers the less popular view and concentrates his efforts in the earlier part of the day. He sees little point in constantly travelling in search of exotic locations\, when quite often a beautiful image can be just around the corner from your own front door.
