Join Paul Mitchell as he delves into how his previous career in Graphic Design has influenced his unique approach to landscape photography.
His process still harks back to his design roots – starting with a blank piece of paper and sketching out his initial thoughts. This is the same principle as looking through a camera viewfinder and populating it with ideas.
In this informative talk, you will discover the value of looking beyond the obvious and exploring details, textures and shapes found in both natural and man made landscapes.
Paul will review the various compositional aides such as the rule of thirds and the golden ratio. You will also learn how the use of colour, shapes, scale, symmetry, repetition and pattern can elevate the impact of your images.
After a successful 45 year career in Graphic Design, Paul has evolved into a full-time professional photographer, devoting much of his time to lecturing and running photography workshops.
He has had numerous exhibitions in the UK, and frequently has images and articles published in photography magazines. Paul is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society and is currently the Chair of the Landscape distinctions panel.
