Discover the fascinating world of infrared photography where images are made from invisible light, producing an alternative view of reality!

This inspiring talk looks at the history, science and art of infrared (IR) photography over the last 100 years.

It covers the discovery of ‘invisible’ light, the invention of IR films and their many civilian and military uses, the move to digital camera conversion and even a moment of space exploration!

Along the way Simon explains the pitfalls of working with invisible IR light and showcases the work of IR photographers from around the world. You’ll also get to see his wonderful portfolio of images taken over the last 20 years.

After spending his earlier career as a record producer in the classical music industry, Simon now specialises in filming and photographing live performance, contextual portraiture, wildlife and nature. Alongside this, over the last 20 years, his lifelong love of black & white imagery has found a voice in the form of IR photography.

Using specially modified cameras Simon captures scenes entirely composed of invisible IR light, producing an alternative view of reality –  beyond visible light.
